TDC Fashion: Fall Trend...70s Inspired

Fall is here! From long beautiful wool coats to corduroy overalls and 70s denim, fall trends are giving me a 70s disco vibe. Yassss!!!! Recently, while trading clothes at a local consignment shop, the store clerk shared that denim with flare and boot cuts are "IN". They seemed to have never gone away in my book. Some would disagree. However, everyone has their own signature flare or takes a risk when the moment is right. Well, this season, have fun and be chic in your most fabulous 70s fall fashion looks. Those flare leg denim jeans and wool bell-bottoms can be put in the front of your closet. And, if you don't have a pair, check out your local thrift or vintage store. You are bound to find trends of this season for a great price!

What do you think of this season's 70s inspired looks? What 70s fashion trend will you be embracing this season?

My Love for Flats!

“High heels make the outfit!” They lied. Flats are the new stiletto in my book. I wear them everyday. To work, out shopping, for a weekend outing or on a date (yes flats can be date worthy too!). They can be worn with practically anything. Flats are comfy, cute and I’m 99% less likely to fall on my tail or make that shameful/painful walk of death to my car after a long day on my feet.

You would be surprised how many women are limping on the inside and strutting like a peacock on the outside. Like my sister would say "Walking like a new born baby deer". Lol. Now I'm not totally a heel hater, I rock a great heel every now and then. I just don’t make it a habit. This tall girl is happy with a great outfit and an even greater flat. I love knowing that my shoes won’t hold me back if I have to run for the train or even run for my life. "Ain't nobody got time" for a sprained ankle…or two! Ok that’s a little extreme but it’s true. There are flats in all shapes, textures, colors and sizes (I only particularly care for a size 10).

So how do you feel about flats? How often do you wear them? Are you a heel or a flat lover?

Journey Back To Your First Love

Art and Literature. These two areas of the human experience are what brought me joy and a sense of individuality as a child. Drawing and writing poetry was my outlet. I would paint to endure life’s challenges and write to relieve stress. I would visit a museum to have fun and read to explore the thoughts and ideas that influenced my next creation. I have to get back to that.

Recently, I’ve been reflecting on why my emotions and moods have been so scattered. While life’s joys are constant and blessings are continuous, I have not been able to simply enjoy their abundance. I’ve come to realize that what I needed was an outlet. Some would say, finding a hobby or recording my life in a journal would be the answer. I agree that those actions would lead me in the right direction but they would only be the start. An indefinite avenue of expression would be long-lasting. I must utilize my gifts in art and literature to enhance my life story.

How did I go astray and forfeit the joy of my beginnings? It’s simple. I began running after an image that pleased everyone else. I lost me and gained the acceptance of those around me. Well, somewhat gained the acceptance. Throw a few unnecessary judgements in there.
When do we realize that all we need is purpose and love? Purpose is the driving force and love is what conquers the occasional hiccups and distractions of life. No matter what course or path life takes, if purpose and love are present, true happiness and joy will always be apart of the final destination.

I vow to get back to my first loves. Art and Literature are a part of my purpose. My heart tells me so. So, I’ll listen to my heart and disregard the noise that attempts to distract me. Embracing my own passions and practicing my craft will lead me to the destination I’ve always dreamed of. ❤️

What are your passions? Are there any talents that you should be developing? If so, let’s vow to get back to our first loves.

Share your loves…
